We, unimpressed. Despite some fairly impressive visual effects, this near-futuristic fantasy never quite takes flight, despite Will Smith's typically engaging performance as a technophobic Chicago detective. He's on the trail of a hyperintelligent robot he is convinced is behind the death of a brilliant scientist. Alas, you don't have to be hyperintelligent to stay a step ahead of the screenplay.
